Camping Information


Sea Rim State Park: Oct. 15-17 2004
Cost is $10 per person attending (siblings up 5 years of age free).
If camping Friday night extra 5.00 per family. Place of Campsite
Sea Rim State park Limited amount of space first come first served.
Scouts must wear uniform on the way to the campout, during the campfire
ceremony and leaving camp. This is a BSA rule for insurance purposes
Official start of Pack 1005 camp out starts at 8:00 am on Saturday Sept. 25,
2004 ends at 11:30 am Sept. 26. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner will be
provided on Saturday and Breakfast only Sunday morning.
Pay at sign up required. If need be you can post date check.

Example of Cost for Camping:
Family of 4 camping X2 night 45.00 Family of 2 X 2 nights 25.00
Family of 4 camping X1 night 40.00 Family of 2 X 1 night 20.00

Cost includes all meals and campsite fees. You have a 2.00 entrance
fee for anyone over 13 years of age when you enter the park.

This area is in the central fly zone. Its early but should be able to
see some early migrating ducks like teal and whistling ducks. There
are airboat tours you can take (not included in Campout) Please bring BR>
fishing gear

This is an opportunity for the boys to learn to surf fish.
    Items you must have for The Cub scouts Fall Family Campout:
  • Current medical forms filled for scout and family members attending
  • Tent
  • Tarp or ground cover to place tent over
  • Hammer to pound in stakes for tent
  • Sleeping gear (be prepare according to weather reports)
  • Sleeping bags, cots, pillows, blanket, pads etc.
  • Lantern
  • Flash light
  • Sunscreen/Insect repellant
  • Ice chest with your drinks and snacks
  • Water (unless you want to drink water from tap at park)
  • Folding chairs
  • Canteens/refillable bottles
  • Silver ware and plates, cup for drinking (will not be provided by pack must bring your own)
  • Any medications needed for your family
  • Shoes appropriate for hiking. Shoes for walking to and from bathroom area
  • Hat with brim
  • Toiletries specific for your family examples: soap toothpaste etc.
  • hairbrush and comb
  • Towels and washcloths
  • At least one pair of long pants and long sleeve shirt
  • Sleep wear for how many nights you camp.
  • Rain gear just in case
    Things to bring along but not mandatory
  • Mat for front door of tent
  • Bucket
  • Shovel
  • Broom to sweep out tent before packing up
  • Telescope/ binoculars (for star gazing)
  • Camera and film
  • Citronella candles
  • Extra change of clothes for mud or water accidents.
  • Extra stakes for tent
  • Water shoes
  • Fishing gear( surf fishing will be excellent)
  • Sand toys
  • Bait live or dead shrimp
  • mullets

Directions:
From Houston you want to go east on I 10 continue east until you get
to the Winnie/ Port Arthur exit #828. That will be Hwy 73 stay on that
highway for approximately 25 miles you will see an exit for Hwy 82. It veers
to the right, take that route. if you on 73 you will go over a over pass and you
will be going the WRONG way. After you veer to the right on 82 you will come to
HWY 87 Take a right this will take you through what use to be the gulf refinery.
If you continue on 82 it will take you to Cameron LA. Continue on until you get
to Sabine pass. When you get into Sabine pass it's a very small town. You come
to a stop sign in middle of town. Take a right, which will also be 87. There will
be a sign saying so many miles to Sea Rim State park. I believe its about 10 miles.
The park is on the left. There is a 2.00 entrance fee. The camping fee is paid.

DO NOT TRY TO GO THROUGH GALVESTON BECAUSE THE ROAD
IS CLOSED AFTER YOU GET TO THE END OF THE BOLIVER
PENNISULA. THE ROAD IS WASHED OUT.
